Compact disco - Feel the rain

RAIN POURING FROM OUR EYES

Another music quartet from Budapest. Compact disco is a succesful Hungarian electronic rock band which was founded only 4 years ago in 2008. They released their second album in 2011 with the simple name "II". Feel the rain is one of their best songs.

Compact disco is also candidate for being the Hungarian participant in the 2012 Eurovision song contest with the song Sound of our hearts. I give them good chances for a good score.

Pluto - Hóember

SNOWMAN

Alternative rock band Pluto with a song from their 2011 album Nevem Senki. The four band members are Nemes András, Dudás Zsombor, Martinkó Tamás, Horváth Gábor. About their band name Pluto they write on their webpage: "The bands name Pluto refers to a remote small planet - the real outsiders in place."

Hóember

fentről jön, és kicsi és könnyű - from above it comes, small and light
nehéz lehet, hogyha felemelik - it can be heavy to lift
lebeg és táncol a többiekkel - it floats and dances with the others
aztán földet ér, sárral keveredik - after it hit the ground, it gets mixed with mud

na ki vele, na ki vele, na ki van vele! - So tell, so tell, so who is with it!

falnak dőlve ül a kartonágyon - leaning against the wall, sitting on a bed of cardboard
na mi a gond, mi a gond, mi baj vele? - So what's wrong, what's wrong, what's wrong with it?
mindig mosolyra kész a szája - the lips always ready to smile

nekem a dolgom, hogy ne csak tétlenül várjak - it's my task, not just waiting passively

hogy magadtól ide gyere, mit kiabáltam - that you come here by yourself, what I shouted
hogy nem látok semmit, hogy homályos ablak - that I don't see anything, like a blurred window
a szobanövényeid kitakartak - your plants are uncovering you
hallja a zúgást, látja, ha felnéz - hear the buzzing, see if you look up high
a magasban színes gömbök úsznak - the colourful balloons floating
lelóg egy zsinór, elkapom - one cord is coming down and I catch it
kapaszkodok, és ők hazáig húznak - handrails, and they dragged me home

na most aztán, na mit lépsz erre? - So now, so what's your step for this?

eljutottál velem arra a helyre - gotten me to the place
na most aztán, na mit lépsz erre a dalban? - So now, so what's your next step for this song?

megvagy hóember - ott a fejeden a választék - I found you snowman, there on your head is a middle parting

még egy évet várhatnál - You could wait another year
még egy évig ellennél - You could be here one more year
megvagy hóember - ott van a fejedben a válasz rég
- I found you snowman, there on your head is the answer for a long time
még egy évet várhatnál
- You could wait another year
még egy évig ellennél
- You could be here one more year

30Y - Városember

EVERYBODY IS LEAVING

30Y (harminc-ypsilon) - an alternative band from Pécs (south of Hungary). The band consists of five people (two are brothers). 30Y about themselves: "30Y doesn't want to be put to categories because they believe music can't be categorized. They don't like the winter because their rehearsal place doesn't have good heating, the roads are slippery and in the mornings the weather is often foggy. But they like the summer because girls are walking in short skirts and tops."

Meanwhile, I'm still thinking about the meaning of the song :).

Városember
Emberbe városok - Cities into the people
Városba emberek - People into the city
Minden utcát ismerek - I know all the streets
Ismerek - I know
Ismerek - I know

Emberbe városok -
Cities into the people
Belőlem költöznek - They are moving out of me
Úgy mennek el, hogy - They are going like
Új lakók nem jönnek - no new residents are coming
Nem jönnek - they are not coming

Városba emberek -
People into the city
Többé már nem laknak - they are not living here anymore
Pakolok én is és itt hagylak - I'm packing and I leave you here
Itt hagylak - I leave you here
Itt hagylak - I leave you here

Álmomba ragad a nagy élet -
The big life is still in my dreams
Én sose éltem akkorába - but I never lived in such a big one
Hogy azt kéne most beletömni - how should I now stuff it
Más vánkosába - to somebody else' pillow

Álmomba ragad a nagy élet
- The big life is still in my dreams
Én sose éltem akkorába - but I never lived in such a big one
Hogy azt kéne most beletömni - how should I now stuff it
Más vánkosába - to somebody else' pillow

NOX - Százszor ölelj még!

HUG ME MORE

Great song about love from NOX (lead singer: Szilvia Péter Szabó), the 2005 Eurovision song contest participant from Hungary, with its typical style which is a mix of electro pop and traditional hungarian folk tunes. The clip is nothing special, but the lyrics and the mood of the song are just great.

Százszor ölelj még!

Szívem táján újra nyár van, - It's summer again in my heart,
Csupa virág hét határban-, - Full of flowers,
Legszebb szálját hajamba fűztem, - The most beautiful one I've put to my hair,
Lássák, van már szerelmem! - So they will see, I have someone who loves me!

Álmomban így kívántam-, - In my dream I wished so,
Egyedül én mindig fáztam - Alone I was always freezing,
Érted égek gyönyörű tűzben, - You understand I live in a wonderful fire for you,
Minden könnyet feledtem. - All the tears forgotten.

Százszor ölelj még! - Hug me hundred more times!
Csókkal bezárt titok lennék - I will be a secret closed by a kiss,
Százszor szeress még! - Love me hundred more times!
Mást hogy szeretnék?! - How could I love someone else?!
Százszor ölelj még! - Hug me hundred times!
Édes-csodás bűnbe esnék - Into a sweet and lovely sin i'm fallin,
Százszor szeress még! - Love me hundred more times!
Mást hogy szeretnék?! - How could I love someone else?!

Szívem táján újra nyár van, - It's summer again in my heart,
Csodavilág, napsugárban-, - wonderworld in the sunrise,
Csókok, csöndek, dalok a fűben, - Kisses, silence, songs in the grass,
Éld át mindet szerelmem! - Experience all my love!

Álmomban így kívántam, - In my dream I wished so,
Vigyen az út mindig párban - Take the route always together,
Sorsod láncát magamra fűztem, - Your destiny is chained to mine,
Téged kell hát szeretnem! - So I must love you!

See more from Szilvia singing the famous hungarian poem from Bródy János "Ha én rózsa volnék - If I were a rose" Péter Szabó Szilvia - Ha én rózsa volnék.

Ha én rózsa volnék translation:

If i were a rose, i would not bloom just once,
every year i would blossom four times,
once for the young man, once for the young woman,
once for the true love and once for their final passing.

If i were a gate, i would stand wide open,
come from where they may, i would let anyone through.
I would never ask, "tell me who sent you?"
i would simply be glad if all could enter.

If i were a window i would be so wide,
that the whole world could be seen though me,
people would look through with understanding,
nothing would be hidden.

If i were a small street i would always be clean,
every evening, i would be bathed in clear light,
and if, some day, steel girders crushed the life from me,
even the earth beneath me would mourn in desolation.

If i were a national flag, i'd never wave in anger,
winds from all directions could never provoke me.
I would be stretched out, stiffly,
never a slave to the direction of the wind.
